I was just reading the latest issue of Newsweek.
This week's special report was on 'The Good Life'.
While reading the articles on how much money the rich spend on luxury items, I couldn't help but feel awed by the lifestyle of the affluent and not to mention a slight tinge of envy. However, while the demand for such commodities increase, the disparity between the rich and poor grows too. The rich are able to pay $32,000 for a platinum mobile phone and spend one million a year on coporate jet travel. I wonder how many say, Africans have even been out of their own town. The latest G8 summit held at Scotland had Tony Blair proposing to increase aid to Africa and to wipe off bad debts, a heartwarming act, nonetheless. We need such big hearted people to make our world a better place.
